We will help you learn more about adjuster license requirements if you think being an insurance adjuster in Delaware is right for you. The criteria for obtaining a Delaware adjuster license, as well as how they can be met are outlined below.

How do you become a certified adjuster in Delaware?

If you are 18 years of age or older and have passed the Delaware insurance adjuster examination, you can receive an insurance claims adjuster license and work as an insurance adjuster in Delaware. The same is true for someone who wants to become an auto appraiser.

Delaware’s Licensing Requirements for Adjusters

  • An applicant must be at least 18 years old
  • Must provide a valid Delaware address for his residence or company
  • Pass the Pearson VUE Testing Centers’ state exam in Delaware
  • Fill out the Delaware Insurance Adjuster License application and send it along with the $100 application fee.

Delaware Insurance Adjuster License for Non-Residents

Non-residents who choose to become DE adjuster must fill out an application. For more information on Delaware non resident adjuster license lookup, go to the National Insurance Producer Registry.

Delaware adjuster license state exams

Most states suggest having a Property & Casualty (P&C) or All-Lines license, but Delaware does not. Instead, they have different licenses for each line of jurisdiction, as well as separate tests for each: Property Adjuster, Casualty Adjuster, and Motor Vehicle Adjuster.

Both the AdjusterPro Property and Casualty Exam Prep Courses are recommended. This will allow you to cover the majority of common claims, making you much more appealing to employers than if you only had one license. If you want to work in the insurance industry, you must take the Motor Vehicle Adjuster Exam.

Register and pass the Delaware adjuster license state exams

To become licensed and appear on a Delaware adjuster license lookup, applicants must register and take state exams through PearsonVue Delaware. You have the option of scheduling several exams on the same day.

To pass some tests, you’ll need a scaled score of 70, while others will need an 80. On your score report, you can find the passing score.

  • Property Adjuster Exam: 50 questions, 1 hour and 15 minutes
  • Casualty Adjuster Exam: 50 questions, 1 hour and 30 minutes
  • Motor Vehicle Adjuster Exam: 50 questions, 1 hour

Submit an application for your Delaware adjuster license

If you’ve passed the test, go to NIPR and apply for your adjuster license(s). A separate application and fee will be required for each license.
Check with SBS Delaware to see if your licenses have been issued.

For a background check, process and submit fingerprints.

Delaware requires applicants to submit fingerprints for a criminal history background check. The Delaware State Police website has instructions about how to get fingerprinted.

A Delaware State Criminal History Check and an FBI Criminal History Check are required for all applicants. Within 90 days of receiving fingerprints and submitting your adjuster license application, fax all reports to 302-736-7906.

Complete continuing education and license renewal requirements

Once you have obtained your license, you’ll need to take a few more steps to keep it active every few years. Every two years, Delaware adjusters must complete 12 hours of continuing education (CE).

At least 3 hours of Ethics continuing education must be included in the 24 hours. In any reporting period, you can’t earn credit for the same course more than once. Only DE resident licensees are eligible to participate in continuing education.

SBS Delaware will help you renew your license.
